ArtSpace LUMOS

2018년 8월 개관하는 LUMOS는

대구에서 유일한 사진 중심의 아트 스페이스다.

한국의 전통과 현대문화가 공존하는 도심 중심에 자리한 이곳은 다양한 비주얼 아트를 구현할 수 있는 전시공간을 갖추고 있다. 아트 스페이스 LUMOS는 비주얼 아트 전시 공간, 국내외 사진 전문 서적을 갖춘 포토북 라이브러리, 그리고 다양한 공연과 강연이 가능한 루프탑 공간을 갖추고 있다.

사진을 중심으로 한 현대 시각예술 전시가 풍성하게 펼쳐질 LUMOS의 디렉터 SEOK Jaehyun은

비주얼 커뮤니케이션을 전공하고 사진가로 활동하여 왔으며, 최근 10여 년 간 국내외 유수 포토 페스티벌에서 전시기획자로 그리고 포트폴리오 리뷰어로 활발한 활동을 펼쳐오고 있다.

라틴어로 빛을 뜻하는 명사 LUMEN에서 유래한 LUMOS.

사진을 사랑하는 모든 이들을 위한 공간인 Art Space LUMOS는 역량 있는 국내외 사진가들에게 빛이 되는 공간, 현대 예술로서의 사진이 한국에서 세계로 세계에서 한국으로의 소통의 빛을 밝히는 공간으로 자리매김 할 것이다.

LUMOS is the only art space in Daegu focusing on photo itself, which opens in August, 2018.

It has exhibition hall that can realize various visual arts in central part of town with coexistence of

Korean traditional and modern culture. The Art Space LUMOS is equipped with exhibition hall showing visual art, photo book library which has specialized books on photo internally and externally, and rooftop space to give lectures or performances.

Jae-hyun Seok, the director of LUMOS where the exhibition of modern visual arts will be performed with pictures, studied visual communication and has been active as a photographer. He has workedas a plan maker on exhibition for distinguished photo festivals nationally and internationally, and reviewer of portfolio for a recent decade.

The name LUMOS is a noun from Latin, LUMEN which means light.

Art Space LUMOS is the hall for anyone who loves photo. It will be the space being the light to

national and international photographers, and brightening up the light of communication through

photo as modern art from Korea to the world, from the world to Korea.

전시기획자로, 포트폴리오 리뷰어로 세계 각국을 다니다보면 발길을 사로잡는 공간을 마주하게 됩니다.

다양한 스펙트럼의 비주얼 아트가 구현되는 공간, 누구나 사진 전문 서적을 마주할 수 있는 공간,

그런 매력적인 공간이 생긴다면 멋진 전시를 기획해보고 싶다는 마음을 늘 품고 있었습니다.

역량 있는 국내외 사진가들에게 빛이 되는 공간, 한국에서 세계로 소통의 빛을 나누겠다는 공간,

이제 아트스페이스 루모스에서 그런 전시를 기획하고자 합니다.

It is a great pleasure to greet you.

I am SEOK Jaehyun, Director of Art Space LUMOS.

I encounter spaces that strongly attract me as I travel around the world as a curator and portfolio reviewer.

Spaces where visual art of diverse spectra is crystalized, and Spaces where anybody can encounter specialized books on photography – If such attractive spaces come into being, I have always wished to curate a wonderful exhibition.

Spaces that could become a light to competent photographers at home and abroad, and Spaces where LUMOS is willing to share the light of communication to the world from Korea –

Art Space LUMOS plans to curate such an exhibition.
